Dr. Zara Akhter, Optomestrist

Dr. Zara Akhter graduated from McMaster University with her Bachelors of Science in 2010 followed by Optometry at Aston University in Birmingham, UK. She then went to the University of Waterloo to complete the International Optometric Bridging Program.

Areas of interest include family eye care, contact lenses, management of anterior segment disease, co-management of posterior eye diseases including cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. 

Dr. Akhter is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) and the Hamilton District Society of Optometrists (HDSO). 

Dr. Akhter is fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi. 

When she is not working, she enjoys travelling, spending time with her husband, and reading.
